Yamanaka Aburaten Machiya Guest House

Enjoy the charm of Kyoto that can't be experienced at a hotel or Japanese inn Reservations

Experience the elegant world of former dynasties transcending through time and space.

Our 7 converted machiya guesthouses are over 100 years old, and located in the ruins of the Heian Imperial palace, in the heart of Kyoto, the ancient capital of 1000 years.

The Emperors and Empresses resided in this area during the Heian period, and some monuments have thus been constructed to indicate the imperial association to the buildings.

Why not come and feel like an nobleman at this site which was the setting for 'The Tale of Genji' and experience the elegant world of the ancient dynasty transcending through time and space.
